Every Identity you bring not only matters, It is the core of who you are.

We not only understand It, as therapists we experience it and believe our healing spaces should center it.

Our Approach to Identity Based Trauma

  • What is Identity Based Trauma?

Identity-based trauma occurs when due to your lived experiences or identities, you are not only treated differently; you continue to experience continue harm and emotional violence. This form of trauma cuts deep by impacting not only your perception of yourself, but your sense of belonging with others.

Many of us experience identity based trauma not as a one time experience, but as an ongoing one that we have to present as okay in the moment, but when we are alone, we experience the grief and pain.

  • How We Support You

Our approach first and foremost honors the lived experiences that come in the room. We support(and encourage!) you to:

    1. Bring all parts of yourself: What does this mean? It means that everything that makes you who you are is not only WELCOME, but needed for the healing to occur.

    2. There are many paths to the same solution, creating healing. In our practice, we take a PERSON CENTERED APPROACH. This means that we don’t pull from on modality. We pull from whatever we need to curate the best and most authentic therapeutic experience for you.

  • Common Modalities We Utilize

Many of these modalities(or types of therapy we use) are used in combination and sometimes in isolation, but the process depends on YOU and what you need. Isn’t the first step of healing beig able to hold space for who you are AND know that your therapy space wants to do that for you? We think so!

    Some modalities we use are:

    Narrative Therapy

    Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy

    Emotional Focused Individual Therapy

    Family Systems Theory

    Feminist Theory
