Getting the High-Quality Mental Health Care

YOU DESERVE.

Let’s Meet Monina Reyes! (she/her)

Monina identifies as a queer, first-generation Asian (Filipinx) immigrant and finds her lived experiences as fundamental in every aspect of her life, including her therapeutic work. Genuine, human connections are her favorite aspects of life and she seeks to cultivate these through mutual trust, respect, and vulnerability.

Outside of work, you can find Monina at a local coffee shop lost in a book, her writing, or music. She feels most inspired when surrounded by her loved ones, her cats, and the great outdoors.

Monina brings so much knowledge, care and experience to the team!

Monina is a passionate and active participant in the movement to decolonize mental health. She believes that you are a whole person above anything else - a whole person that deserves to be seen, heard, and understood. Her lived experiences as a queer Asian immigrant informs her personal and professional values regarding collective liberation. Through her work, she hopes to walk alongside you in your journey toward self-advocacy, justice, and growth. Some of this work includes deconstructing internalized sociocultural narratives rooted in oppression, placing equal emphasis on external/environmental influences on well-being, and integration of various parts of Self. Monina holds the stance that she will either walk behind, or alongside, you throughout your process - but never in front of you.
Monina’s therapeutic approach is founded in systemic, constructivist, and intersectionalist principles. She believes that it is not only important, but necessary, to acknowledge, explore, and accept all facets of our identity, including parts of ourselves we have been conditioned to reject. Narrative theory, ecological systems theory, feminist theory, and relational-cultural theory are some of the frameworks that make up the foundation of her clinical work. Monina strongly believes in the power of shared vulnerability within the therapeutic relationship and looks forward to the reciprocal journey of learning and growth with those she comes to see as a means of fostering improved relationships with their self and others.
